There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den gaming is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel building that features numerous luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
