There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that features numerous conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight table games.
